Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, behaves, and interacts with others. The word “spectrum” means that the condition can vary widely from person to person—some people may need a lot of help in daily life, while others may be very independent.
At our center, we provide expert, compassionate care for children and adults with autism. Our goal is to support each person’s unique strengths and help them lead a happy, meaningful life.
Autism is not an illness—it’s a different way of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. People with autism may:
Find it hard to communicate or understand social cues
Prefer routines and get upset by changes
Have focused interests or special talents
Be sensitive to sounds, lights, textures, or smells
Struggle with eye contact, speech, or gestures
Repeat certain actions or words (called "stimming")
Symptoms usually appear in early childhood, often by age 2 or 3, but autism can be diagnosed at any age.
Every child is different, but common signs include:
Not responding to their name
Avoiding eye contact
Delayed speech or language
Repeating words or actions
Difficulty making friends or playing with others
Strong interest in specific topics
Upset by changes in routine or surroundings
If parents notice any of these signs, it’s important to speak to a doctor or specialist early.
There is no single known cause of autism. Experts believe it may be linked to a mix of genetic and environmental factors. Autism is not caused by vaccines, bad parenting, or anything a parent did during pregnancy. It’s simply the way the brain develops.
Autism is diagnosed through:
Developmental history and behavior assessments
Observations by a child development specialist, psychologist, or neurologist
Standardized tools like the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)
Early diagnosis is very helpful, as early intervention leads to better outcomes.
Autism cannot be “cured,” but many therapies and supports can help individuals thrive.

Occupational Therapy: Helps with daily tasks and sensory challenges
Behavioral Therapy (like ABA): Builds social and learning skills through structured routines
