Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy, is a gentle, water-based treatment used to relieve pain, improve movement, and promote relaxation. It uses the natural properties of water—like warmth, buoyancy (floating), and resistance—to support physical healing and mental well-being.
At our center, we offer safe, customized hydrotherapy sessions guided by trained physiotherapists to help people of all ages recover, strengthen, and feel better.
Hydrotherapy involves doing specific exercises in a warm-water pool under expert supervision. The water temperature is usually between 32°C and 34°C, which helps relax muscles, improve blood flow, and reduce joint pain.
This therapy is especially useful for people who find land-based exercises difficult due to pain, weakness, or limited movement.
Buoyancy: Water supports your body weight, reducing pressure on joints and muscles so you can move more freely.
Resistance: Moving in water gently strengthens muscles without the risk of heavy lifting.
Warmth: Warm water soothes aches, reduces stiffness, and promotes circulation.
Hydrostatic pressure: The pressure from water can reduce swelling and improve balance.
Hydrotherapy is helpful for many conditions, including:
Arthritis and joint pain
Back pain
Post-surgery recovery (like hip or knee replacement)
Sports injuries and fractures
Stroke
Cerebral palsy
Parkinson’s disease
Multiple sclerosis
Spinal cord injuries
Developmental delays
Muscle tightness or weakness
Sensory processing issues
Chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia
Obesity (as a starting point for gentle exercise)
General stress or anxiety
Assessment: We evaluate your condition, medical history, and goals to plan your therapy.
Warm-up: Gentle stretching or floating to relax the body.
Therapeutic Exercises: These may include:
Walking or marching in water
Arm and leg movements for strength
Balance and coordination drills
Breathing and relaxation techniques
Cool-down: Light movements or floating to calm the body and mind.
Sessions are supervised by trained physiotherapists to ensure safety and effectiveness. Non-swimmers are also welcome—most pools are shallow and support tools like floats are provided.
